06/6/2022

Many guests visit Lancaster County to take in the culture of the region and escape the complications of their everyday lives. The quaint charm of our largely agricultural community encourages simplicity, outdoor activities and old-world entertainment. Picnics are a simple, traditional way to soak up the sun and enjoy everything the great outdoors has to offer.

Below, you'll find some of our favorite spots for a picnic around Lancaster County.

Lancaster County Central Park

Named for its centralized location, Lancaster County Central Park is one of the largest in the area. This park has six pavilions for picnicking and private events as well as tons of appealing areas for a more rustic picnic. Spread out a picnic blanket near one of the beautiful gardens or eat by the tennis court before a quick game.

D.F. Buchmiller Park

D.F. Buchmiller Park is known for its open lawn areas and gardens planted with gorgeous local flora. Roll out your picnic blanket anywhere in the 79-acre park or set it up in one of the three picnic pavilions. When you're done, you can enjoy a full day at the park with tennis, volleyball, hiking, disc golf and kids' playgrounds.

Breezyview Overlook at Chickies Rock County Park

One of the most scenic picnic areas in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Breezy Overlook offers incredible vistas with views of farmland and the Susquehanna River. Enjoy a walk through the park and settle into one of the pavilions or picnic areas to take in the views while you eat.

Long's Park

Long's Park boasts a loaded schedule of fun events, including arts and crafts fairs and summertime concerts at the outdoor amphitheater. Visit during an activity or go on an off day to enjoy a less crowded, tranquil outing with fresh food stands, a playground and multiple picnicking areas.

East Donegal Riverfront Park

Riverfront Park is a relatively new park with some of the most picturesque Lancaster County picnic locations. This park has everything you need to enjoy a day outdoors, including tons of grassy picnic spots, beautiful views of the river, a boat launch and many walking paths.

Sam Lewis State Park

Located just across the river from Lancaster County, Sam Lewis State Park offers 85 acres of adventure. Hike up Mount Pisgah for a stunning panoramic view of the river or picnic at Hilltop Pavillion and use the viewing scope to check everything out.
